Appeals

An "appeal" is a direct challenge to a conviction as well as a complaint about the fairness of the proceedings which led to the conviction.  The quickest way to mount such a challenge is through a motion for new trial or motion in arrest of judgment.  However, both of these motions must filed within 30 days of the date of judgment in the trial court.  Otherwise, the appropriate court of appeals will review the conviction.   Keith handles appeals all over the state, including Austin, from El Paso to Beaumont, from Texarkana to Brownsville.
